BIO
Anni Porrasmäki (b. 1992)
Lives and works in Helsinki and Berlin.
I’m a photographer, filmmaker, and writer. I work with photographs, video, and text, mixing documentary, photographic, and cinematic methods. Besides artistic projects, I work as a freelancer video-/photographer.
My works' recurring themes are the aesthetics of illness, thematics of memory, alienation, the politics of pain, the relationship between empathy and technology, the grief of time, and the absurdity of life itself. There are no longer clear boundaries between personal and fictional, cinematic and dreamed, feared and lived.
I graduated as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Photography department in the Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Previous studies include a contemporary/jazz dance degree and journalism studies.
Besides artistic work, I’m into contemporary dance, DJing obscure post-punk and wave, and running † disco déplorable club nights.
